Weekend Boredom Busters: Going on a Bear Hunt

Hello all,

We are temporarily reviving our Children's Blog to provide some resources for families who are stuck at home during this period of social distancing due to COVID-19. We will put together a variety of activities for you and your families every day at 1:00 pm. Watch for weekend Boredom Busters Saturday and/or Sunday. See which ones you can do, and if you get the chance, share the results with us on any of our social media platforms, which will be listed at the bottom of this blog.

This weekend's theme is Going on a Bear Hunt!

Bear Hunt: https://www.tampabay.com/news/health/2020/03/28/bored-kids-are-going-on-a-bear-hunt-and-its-adorable/

This idea has taken off around the world, and it has made its way to our community as well. Kids can explore their community (while being mindful of physical distancing) and hunt for bears in windows and doors!

Here's a map of locations in Sylvan Lake where you can hunt for bears!

Don't forgot to hunt for bears at the library - we have 4 bears for you to find!

Bear Crafts: https://www.diythought.com/8-fun-bear-crafts-preschoolers-will-love/

Check out these fun and simple bear crafts, see which ones you can make. I especially love the spiced bear craft. This would be a wonderful aromatic addition to your child's bedroom, or to change the mood in your playroom.

Bear Songs

Check out these bear songs while you're exploring on your bear hunt!

Bear Treats: https://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/gingerbread-teddy-bears/

Ginger-bear cookies are a lovely, delicious treat! Make big bears, little bears, mama bears and mama bears, and decorate them to your heart's content.

Another easy way to make these is with Cutout Gingerbread Cookies. You can even make bear-shaped Sugar Cookies!

Hopefully these activities help break up the day and get your family engaging in a fun weekend bear hunt!

If your kids loved these activities, feel free to send us feedback or pictures on any of our social media platforms, linked below.
