Boredom Busters: In the Jungle

Hello all,

We are temporarily reviving our Children's Blog to provide some resources for families who are stuck at home during this period of social distancing due to COVID-19. We will put together a variety of activities for you and your families every day at 1:00 pm. Watch for weekend Boredom Busters on Saturday and/or Sunday. See which ones you can do, and if you get the chance, share the results with us on any of our social media platforms, which will be listed at the bottom of this blog.

Today's theme is In the Jungle!

Lion Mask: https://www.fantasticfunandlearning.com/lion-mask.html

Break out your inner lion with a roar - and smile! This mask is adorable, and has the added benefit of helping to build those fine motor skills.

Even though lions don't actually live in the jungle (their natural habitat is the open savanna) they are known as the King of the Jungle because of their raw power and strength!

While you're letting loose your inner lion, head on over to cloudLibrary and check out Princess Angelica, Part-Time Lion Trainer.

Monkeying Around: https://www.craftymorning.com/paper-plate-monkey-kids-craft-idea/

Who knew monkeys and bubble wrap painting went hand-in-hand? This is a super cute and fun craft, with a unique twist!

Keep on monkeying around with cloudLibrary, and check out Good Crooks Book One: Missing Monkey!

Rolling Pin Leopards: https://www.notimeforflashcards.com/2009/05/leopard-craft.html

There are so many possibilities with this craft. All you need is paper, markers, a rolling pin, foam (preferably foam stickers, but you can tape or glue them on as well), googly eyes, and paint.Trace out your leopard, then start rolling on the spots!

After you've finished rolling out your Leopard, leap over to cloudLibrary and check out National Geographic Kids Chapters: Lucky Leopards!

Giraffe Fingerprint Fun: https://www.powerfulmothering.com/fingerprint-paint-fun-for-toddlers/

Who doesn't love finger painting? This craft is super flexible for supplies, and you can make just about any animal with stripes or spots. Let your creativity flow!

While you're at it, check out the Giraffe Cam at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park!

Hopefully these activities help break up the day, and get your family excited to explore the jungle!
