Boredom Busters: Get Moving Those Muscles

Hello all,

We are temporarily reviving our Children's Blog to provide some resources for families who are stuck at home during this period of social distancing due to COVID-19. We will put together a variety of activities for you and your families every day at 1:00 pm. Watch for weekend Boredom Busters on Saturday and/or Sunday. See which ones you can do, and if you get the chance, share the results with us on any of our social media platforms, which will be listed at the bottom of this blog.

Today's theme is Get Moving Those Muscles!

Yoga for Kids: https://www.yogajournal.com/poses/yoga-for/kids

Yoga is a great way to wake your body up in the morning and start your day off right. Follow along with some of these poses, and don't forget to breathe!

Freeze Dance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1vdKfXlB_g

Playing freeze dance is a great way to get your muscles moving and your blood pumping! This is a great cardio activity - and a funny one too. See what crazy poses you can get caught in when the music stops! Try it with any songs you love!

DIY Balance Beam: https://www.preschoollearningonline.com/preschool-activities/masking-tape-balance-beam-coordination.html

Balance beams are great for - you guessed it - balance! But they also help build coordination, stamina, and muscle memory!

Make your own balance beams with whatever you have at home - tape, pool noodles, throw cushions - if it works, it works!

The Floor is Lava: https://www.tipsonlifeandlove.com/parenting/how-to-play-the-floor-is-lava-a-fun-game-for-you-and-your-kids-video

This is a great game to play sporadically throughout the day, but you can make it a longer challenge by devising ways to get from one place to another without touching the floor. Be safe and have fun!

Hopefully these activities help break up the day, and get your family excited about moving those muscles!

If your kids loved these activities, feel free to send us feedback or pictures on any of our social media platforms, linked below.
