Boredom Busters: Button Art

Hello all,

We are temporarily reviving our Children's Blog to provide some resources for families who are stuck at home during this period of social distancing due to COVID-19. We will put together a variety of activities for you and your families every day at 1:00 pm. Watch for weekend Boredom Busters on Saturday and/or Sunday. See which ones you can do, and if you get the chance, share the results with us on any of our social media platforms, which will be listed at the bottom of this blog.

Today's theme is Button Art!

Flower Button Art: https://www.thebestideasforkids.com/button-art/

This is a fun and simple activity to do with some bright and colourful buttons. Foam gives it some extra texture, but you can use constructive paper or even plain printer paper, and it will still look great!

Penguin Button Art: https://www.repeatcrafterme.com/2013/12/penguin-button-art.html

Any silhouettes look great in button form! Try this penguin craft, or branch off into other animals. Have lots of grey buttons? Try making an elephant! Lots of pink buttons? Flamingo! The only limit is your creativity!

Rainbow Button Art: https://mymodernmet.com/karen-hurley-rainbow-button-art/

There are so many fun variations for this one. You can do silhouettes, you can do letters, you can do scenery. Gather and sort your buttons, and let your imagination spark a rainbow!

Button Family Picture: https://www.pinterest.ca/starbake/button-family/family/

This is such a cute idea, especially if you don't have a huge supply of buttons around. Pick a button for each family member, then use pencil crayons, markers, paint, or whatever you have handy to draw your own family portrait! You can even make a family picture for your pets!

Hopefully these activities help break up the day, and get your family engaged making button art!

If your kids loved these activities, feel free to send us feedback or pictures on any of our social media platforms, linked below.
