1000 Books Week Forty-Nine

Farmer's Market tonight! I love checking out all the booths, and the kids love the bouncy castle and shaved ice!

Tomorrow at 1:00 is our Teddy Bear Picnic at the Library! Weather permitting, we'll be outside on the grass beside the Library, but if it rains, we'll bring it inside. If you haven't already registered, do so quick! Call us at 403-887-2130.

Our last Star Reader of the Week was Haven!

This week's Star Reader is Nolan! Congratulations!

Our last Book of the Week was "Friends (Mostly), by Barbara Joosse.

Our forty-ninth Book of the Week is "Bear Despair", by Gaëtan Dorémus, a wonderfully wordless tale!

"Don't ever take a bear's teddy bear, no matter how cute you think it is. If you do, you'll be in for trouble. Big trouble. For a bear whose teddy has been stolen isn't simply heartbroken, but determined to get it back. So determined that he might just gobble up more than honey to do so! However, should he succeed in getting his teddy back, then there just might be a surprise in store. This is a book that all readers will relish, and one they will want to read again and again." - Enchanted Lion Books

Stay tuned for our next Star Reader and Book of the Week!

1000 Books Week Forty-Eight

"It's raining, it's pouring, the old man is snoring ..." The rain may be gloomy, but we needed it!

Congratulations to Jackson for bringing back his reading sheet and winning a prize! We'd also like to welcome Casey to the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program!

Our last Star Reader of the Week was Hayden!

This week's Star Reader is Haven! Congratulations!

Our last Book of the Week was "Thesaurus Rex", by Laya Steinberg, a rhyming tale of synonymiffic (we'll pretend that's a word) wonder!

Our forty-eighth Book of the Week is, "Friends (Mostly)", by Barbara Joosse!

"Henry and Ruby.
Ruby and Henry.
Best friends.
(Most of the time.)
They give the best gifts and know the best games and are the best at keeping secrets.
(Most of the time.)
But even when Henry and Ruby don't get along, they know one thing: nothing is the same without your best friend.
Henry and Ruby.
Ruby and Henry.
They belong together.
All of the time."

1000 Books Week Forty-Seven

Summer is fast approaching! Lots of excitement going on at the library! Registration for our Summer Reading Program opens June 1st!

Our last Star Reader of the Week was Ryanne!

This week's Star Reader is Hayden! Congratulations!

Our last Book of the Week was "The Monster at the End of this Book", by Jon Stone, a delightful book starring lovable, furry old Grover.

Our forty-seventh Book of the Week is "Thesaurus Rex", by Laya Steinberg.

"Encourage children to explore synonyms using the adorable Thesaurus Rex. Rex, a dinosaur who has an irresistible way with words, will "slither, skid, slide and glide" his way into children's hearts. Paired with Debbie Harter's vibrant watercolours, Laya Steinberg's energetic text will engage even the youngest of audiences.
But Thesaurus Rex is more than just fun: the alliteration and end rhyme foster phonemic awareness, the action-verb synonyms strengthen young readers' vocabulary and the succinct text builds pre-literacy skills." - Barefoot Books, Inc.

Stay tuned for our next Star Reader and Book of the Week!
