Boredom Busters: Melted Art

Hello all,

We are temporarily reviving our Children's Blog to provide some resources for families who are stuck at home during this period of social distancing due to COVID-19. We will put together a variety of activities for you and your families every day at 1:00 pm. Watch for weekend Boredom Busters on Saturday and/or Sunday. See which ones you can do, and if you get the chance, share the results with us on any of our social media platforms, which will be listed at the bottom of this blog.

Today's theme is Melted Art!

Melted Bead Suncatchers: https://artfulparent.com/making-melted-bead-suncatchers/

This is a wonderful indoor activity for a cool day! There are so many ways to make this art project unique - different colours, different shapes, different sizes. You can use cookie cutters to make an assortment of shapes. You could even make melted bead art wind chimes! The sky is the limit!

Stained Glass Art: https://artfulparent.com/melted-crayon-stained-glass-art/

If you liked the raindrop sun catchers, then you'll love this project! Choose your colours, and start shaving those crayons! Adults need to be hands one for the melting process, but the kids can lead with their creativity! The end results are truly beautiful!

Here's a throwback to one of our very first Art Attack projects! Who remembers when the library looked like this? This was were Adult Fiction and Adul Non-Fiction used to be!

Melted Crayon Dot Art: http://www.piecesbypolly.com/2011/09/melted-crayon-art-and-pointillism-books.html

Pointillism is such a great art medium. This project involves fire (candles or a lighter), so adult supervision is a must, but once the kids get the hang of out, they'll be able to create some truly unique and awesome art pieces!

Hopefully these activities help break up the day, and get your family engaged in creating fantastic melted art!

If your kids loved these activities, feel free to send us feedback or pictures on any of our social media platforms, linked below.
