We are temporarily reviving our Children's Blog to provide some
resources for families who are stuck at home during this period of
social distancing due to COVID-19. We will put together a variety of
activities for you and your families every day at 1:00 pm. Watch for
weekend Boredom Busters on Saturday and/or Sunday. See which
ones you can do, and if you get the chance, share the results with us on
any of our social media platforms, which will be listed at the bottom
of this blog.
Today's theme is Ninja Heroes!
There are masked capers sweeping Alberta, and they are ninjas! It started with a Facebook page for ladies to connect and gift each other with wine, and grew exponentially over the weekend! In just 4 days, over 300 people in Sylvan Lake had been gifted with wine, chocolate, candy, and other fun comfort items.
The kids are getting into it too! Here's how you can participate!
Build Your Basket: Pick out an assortment of beverages, treats, toys, colouring books, etc. Find a bag or box or basket to pack them in. Toss in some tissue paper if you have any. Make the bag/basket as simple or extravagant as your budget allows. Don't feel like you have to spend lots on your basket(s) either. Homemade items or re-gifted items are fantastic. What matters is the gift of giving!
Choose Your Target: If you connect with local Facebook groups, you can find people who are ready to participate and choose their address at random. Or, choose a friend/family member that you know can use an extra smile and some treats. If you are able to choose multiple targets, go for it!
Dress the Part: Half the fun of this game is being incognito! Break out the Halloween costumes, and don't forget a mask/face covering. Be as silly as you can be! This is a fun game for the whole family, and a great to bond while causing some chaotic good!
Deliver the Goods: The game is afoot! This is where your inner ninja shines! You've filled your baskets, carefully selected your targets, and dressed to the nines! Now is your moment! If running is not your forte, this is a great way for the kids to be involved hands-on - plus, they get to play Nicky Nicky Nine Door/Ding Dong Ditch without getting in trouble! Drop the item at the door of your target, ring the bell or knock, and then RUN! The most fun part of this game is not getting caught on the delivery! Try your best to be a sneaky ninja, and most importantly, have fun!
When you're done for the day, check out these Ninja books on cloudLibrary!
Hopefully this activity helped break up the day, and got your family
engaged in some crazy ninja antics!
