Week 4: Bugs
Ages 7-12
Books read:
The Fly by Elise Gravel: I loved the illustrations in this book. I also loved all the neat facts about flies that this book contained.
The Summer We Saved the Bees by Robin Stevenson: We read the first few pages of this book. It is a great read with a theme that the older ones may be able to relate to.
Activities:
For our activity today we went outside and played a game much like "Kick the Can". However, instead of a can we used balls to be spider eggs. There would be two spiders who had twenty seconds to hide their eggs. Once the eggs were hidden. The other participants were able to try to steal the eggs. Whoever stole the egg first was the spider in the next round.
Craft:
Today for our craft we made caterpillars. Fold a half piece of card-stock like you would a paper fan. Then cut your folded square into a round shape. Unfold your caterpillar and decorate it. After we completed our caterpillars we took straws and raced our caterpillars.
