Summer Reading Program Week 2: Birds Ages 2-6

Summer Reading Program
Week 2: Birds
Ages 2-6

Books read:

Telephone by Mac Barnett: A bunch of birds sit on a wire and try and get an important message to the bird at the end of the wire. The illustrations in this book are bright and fun.

My First Book of Canadian Birds by Andrea Miller: This is a great book to introduce children to the various birds we have here in Canada. I asked the kids if they could guess the types of birds before I revealed the names. I was rather impressed with how many birds they were able to identify.

Activities:

For our game this week we played "What Time Is It Mr. Owl?" This is always a fun game as the anticipation of waiting for "lunch time" can be very exciting!

Craft:

For our craft we made Cheerio bird feeders.
To make our bird feeders we put Cheerios onto
pipe-cleaners, and then made our feeders into hearts our circles.
