Summer Reading Program Week 1: Gardens Ages 7-12

Summer Reading Program
Week 1: Gardens
Ages 7-12

Books read:

Tokyo Digs A Garden by Jon-Erik Lappano: This was a book about how we often don't see garden life in the hustle and bustle of city life. However, Tokyo receives some magic seeds which allow for nature to prosper in the city.

The Bad Seed by Jory John: The kids found this book quite funny. They really liked the character and his journey in the book.

Activities:

We played "Bees VS Flowers", which is the same idea as "British Bulldog". The bees started in the centre and when they called out to the flowers. If the flowers were tagged hey would join the bees in the center of the playing area.

Craft:

For our craft we made our own carrots. We cut out a carrot shape from orange construction paper. We then used white and black construction paper for the eyes and mouth. We used green paper for the hair of the carrots.
