Action Song: Ten Little Quail.

One little, two little, three little quail (count on fingers)
Four little, five little, six little quail
Seven little, eight little, nine little quail
Ten little quail run quick, quick, quick! (run around room in a circle)

Quickly, quickly, very quickly, (continue running)
Quickly, quickly, very quickly,
Quickly, quickly, very quickly,
Ten little quail run quick, quick, quick!

Spoken: Come back to your nest, little quail! It’s time for a nap.

One little, two little, three little quail (count on fingers)
Four little, five little, six little quail
Seven little, eight little, nine little quail
Ten little quail lay down for a nap. (snore)

(Spoken) Wake up, little quail! It’s time for mama quail to count her babies.
(Count) One, two, three, four, five. How many little quails are there?

Read second story: "Thump, Quack, Moo: a Whacky Adventure", or "The Birthday Queen".

Counting Poem: Five Little Quail Eggs

Five little quail eggs settled in the nest,
One starts to shake and quiver from the rest.
Out pops a baby quail tiny and wet,
How many little quail eggs are left?

Four little quail eggs …
Three little quail eggs …
Two little quail eggs …

One little quail egg settled in the nest,
She starts to shake and quiver from the rest,
Out pops a baby quail tiny and wet,
Now no little quail eggs are left.

Five little quails shivering from the cold,
Mama hugs them tight in her warm Mama hold.
One by one she counts their heads,
And tucks them safely into bed.

Read third story: "Stella: Queen of the Snow".
