Week 3
2-3
Camping
Questions:
Have you been camping yet this summer?
What would you bring with you if you went
camping?
I got some pretty funny answers from my questions that I asked, some great ideas of what to bring with you to go camping that's for sure!
Books:
"In the red canoe" by Leslie A. Davidson this is a great book, with beautiful pictures!
"S is for S’mores" by Helen Foster James. This book has a lot of information in it about camping, however when reading for stroytime it has sentences in large letters to give children the idea of the picture.
"Maisy goes camping" by Lucy Cousins, the kids though this book was really funny, there was lots of laughter when this book was read.
Activity:
Campfire songs
We created a pretend fire on the grass, after we stood
around the fire and sang various songs, we ended it with going on a bear hunt
Craft:
Lightning bugs
Today for our craft we made fire flies on black paper
Materials: Sparkly sticky foam strips, strips of yellow
construction paper, black construction paper, chalk, markers, and glue.
Instructions: To make the fireflies I had the children glue on a strip of
yellow paper onto the black construction paper to make the body of the firefly,
they then crisscrossed the sticky sparkly foam to make wings. When they were
done making the bugs they decorated the night sky with chalk to make stars, and
a moon.
Snack:
Graham crackers
Apples
Carrots
