TD Summer Reading Club Week 5: Ages 2-3

WEEK 5: WHODUNNIT?

For the fifth week of the Summer Reading Club we took out our notebooks, put on our trench coats and became detectives! At the beginning of the program we talked about what a spy does and all the different things that he has to do for a job. Then we talked about if anyone would want to be a spy for a day and everyone thought that would be the coolest job ever!
For the first book that we read, the kids needed to put on their thinking caps because they had to investigate. The book was I spy with my little eye by Edward Gibbs. The kids had to guess what the animal was by little clues such as "I spy with my little eye something that is gray, and who has a very long truck" An elephant!!

Next we played a little eye spy game of our own from objects all around the room. The kids were excellent detectives and spotted the object without any clues!

The second book we read was:

We did a little dancing next as we sung the hokey pokey. We changed up the lyrics so it would fit with our mystery theme!

You put your fingerprints in. you put your fingerprints out.
You put your fingerprints in and you shake them all about.
You do the detective pokey and you turn yourself around.
That’s what the case is all about!

You put your shoeprints in. you put your shoeprints out.

You put your shoeprints in and you shake them all about.
You do the detective pokey and you turn yourself around.
That’s what the case is all about!

You put your smelling sense (nose) in. you put your smelling sense out.
You put your smelling sense in and you shake them all about.
You do the detective pokey and you turn yourself around.
That’s what the case is all about!

You put your hearing sense (ears) in. you put your hearing sense out.
You put your hearing sense in and you shake them all about.
You do the detective pokey and you turn yourself around.
That’s what the case is all about!

You put your “thinking” (head) in. you put your “thinking” out.
You put your “thinking” in and you shake them all about.
You do the detective pokey and you turn yourself around.
That’s what the case is all about!

The third book we read was:
