Fingerplay: Yawning Yaks
Five yaks yawned a lot--    (Hold up 5 fingers and yawn.)
Time for bed believe it or not.   (Lay hands aside of face as asleep.)
For your mother you must obey.     (Shake pointy finger.)
And when you get up, just yell yea!  (Jump up and say “yea.”)


Action Song: Ten Fluffy Chickens
Five eggs and five eggs,
That makes ten. (Hold up two hands)
Sitting on top is the Mother Hen. (Fold one hand over the other)
Crackle, crackle, crackle; (clap three times)
What do I see?
Ten fluffy chickens, (hold up ten fingers)
As yellow as can be.

If your clothes have any red, Put your finger on your head.

If your clothes have any black, Put your hands behind your back.
If your clothes have any white, Stomp your feet with all your might.


Craft: Yeti
Materials: Toilet rolls painted white, squeezed together at the top and stapled with jagged hair cut out, white paper arm shapes, markers.
Glue on arms and draw on faces and hair.

Letter X- Fox, box, xylophone, ox, x-ray, exit, extra, taxi, mix, six
2’s and 3’s, 4’s and 5’s

I saw a little fox    (Hold up two fingers walking in air.)
climb into a box. (Put fingers in opening of other hand.)
I saw a large ox (Hold hand as a fist.)
sit on a mailbox. (Place fist on other hand.)


Action Song: FOX HAS GOT A LONG RED TAIL
Fox has got a long red tail,
Shake that tail, shake that tail!
Fox has got a long red tail,
Shake that tail now!

Fox has got a pointy nose,
Wiggle that nose, wiggle that nose!

Craft: Fox Face
Materials: Fox head cut from red construction paper, white nose construction paper, black circles and triangles, coffee stir sticks, glue, googly eyes.
Assemble fox head- head, white nose, 2 triangles, circle, coffee stir stick, 2 googly eyes, and glue together.


I used the mask template from http://www.activityvillage.co.uk/fantastic_mr_fox_mask.htm. I did not cut holes for eyes or punch holes for strings. Instead of pipecleaners I used a coffee stir stick and snipped it lengthwise into three whiskers and stapled it on.

The wipers on the bus go "Swish, swish, swish, Swish, swish, swish, swish, swish, swish"
The wipers on the bus go "Swish, swish, swish" All through the town. (Put arms together in front of you and 'swish' like windshield wipers)

The door on the bus goes open and shut Open and shut, open and shut
The door on the bus goes open and shut All through the town. (Cover eyes with hands on 'shut' and uncover them on 'open')

The horn on the bus goes "Beep, beep, beep Beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep"
The horn on the bus goes "Beep, beep, beep" All through the town. (Pretend to honk horn)

The gas on the bus goes "Glug, glug, glug Glug, glug, glug, glug, glug, glug"
The gas on the bus goes "Glug, glug, glug" All through the town. (Pretend to fill tank using pointer finger as gas nozzle)

The money on the bus goes "Clink, clink, clink, Clink, clink, clink, clink, clink, clink"
The money on the bus goes "Clink, clink, clink" All through the town. (Pretend to put money in cash box on bus)

The baby on the bus says, "Wah, wah, wah! Wah, wah, wah, wah, wah, wah!"
The baby on the bus says, "Wah, wah, wah!" all through the town. (Fisted hands in front of eyes and rub them like baby crying)

The people on the bus say, "Shh, shh, shh, Shh, shh, shh, shh, shh, shh"
The people on the bus say, "Shh, shh, shh" All through the town. (Put pointer finger to mouth to 'shhh')

The mommy on the bus says, "I love you, I love you, I love you"
The daddy on the bus says, "I love you, too" All through the town. (Point to self on 'I' right hand over heart on 'love', and point to other on 'you')



Crafts: Walrus
Materials: Construction paper walrus shape, fun foam, markers, glue, scissors
Cut out tusk shapes from white fun foam. Draw on Walrus cheeks, eyes and whiskers. Glue on tusks.



I got the idea from Squish Preschool Ideas but I did change it up quite a bit.

Fingerplay: Fingerplay:
See the carrots in the ground (point hands and arms in a point to form a carrot and point to the ground.
I pull them hard without a sound (pull them out)
I wash and clean them up and down. (scrub up and down with your palms of your hands)
I love to eat them all year round. (Pretend to eat carrots with mouth)



Action Rhyme: I am a Volcano
I am a volcano ( squat down with hands around knees)
Hear me rumble (tremble and rumble)
The lava deep down in me,
Is beginning to bubble.
Something is going to happen,
Happen very soon!
I'm erupting with a
Big gigantic BOOM!!! (jump up and extend arms upward)




Science Experiment – Erupting Volcano

Materials: playdough, vinegar, baking soda, food colouring, small cups, paper plates

Use the play dough to make a volcano surrounding a small cup. Place on a paper plate. Add teaspoon of baking soda to cup. Add red food colouring to vinegar and allow children to slowly pour some into the cup and watch the explosion!

Craft- Volcano
Materials: blue construction paper, black volcano cone cut from construction paper, squares of red and yellow tissue paper, cotton balls shredded, glitter glue, glue.

Glue black cone onto blue construction paper. Scrunch squares of tissue paper and glue to top of volcano, glue on wisps of cotton for smoke. Add touches of glitter glue for glowing magma!
