6 Weeks of Colour - Flowers!

Our third week of colour smells fabulous! We're learning all about flowers!

Interesting facts about flowers:

- Roses are related to apples, raspberries, cherries, peaches, plums, nectarines, pears, and almonds.

- The largest flower in the world is the titan arums, which grows flowers 10 feet high and 3 feet wide. It grows in the rainforest of Sumatra, Indonesia, and Malaysia Borneo in Sabah and Sarawak.

- The juice from bluebell flowers can be used to make glue.

- Moon flowers only bloom at night, and close during the day.

We sang:

The Parts of a Flower (Tune: Head and Shoulders)

Flowers, stem, leaves, and roots,
Leaves and roots,
Leaves and roots.
Flowers, stem, leaves, and roots,
These are the parts of a flower.

Spring Song (Tune: The Farmer in the Dell)

The sun is shining bright,
The sun is shining bright,
Oh how I love the warmth,
The sun is shining bright.

The rain is falling down,
The rain is falling down,
Oh how I love the sound,
The rain is falling down.

The flowers start to bloom,
The flowers start to bloom,
Oh how I love the sight,
The flowers start to bloom.

For our craft, we painted flowers with pom poms and clothespins.

Materials:

- paint
- clothespins
- pom poms/puff balls
- paper

For snack, we had some yummy grapes.
