Under the Sea with Unsinkable Letter U!

U is for ukelele, umbrella, undertow, uncle, up, underwear, unicorn, utensils, unicycle, urn, and underwater!

This week was fill of underwater adventures! We sang some songs about the ocean, fished for sea creatures, and coloured some underwater pictures!

We read:

Cool as a Cucumber! by Sally Smallwood (a book about things you plant underground)

Under My Hood I Have a Hat, by Karla Kuskin

Wake Up, Me! by Marni McGee

Mama's Coming Home, by Kate Banks (you can tell which one Mama is by the umbrella she carries)

The Big Fish: an Alaskan Fairy Tale, by Marcia Wakeland (this big fish lives deep under the icy water)

What Time Is It Mr. Crocodile? by Judy Sieraa (crocodiles like to hide under the swampy waters)

We sang:

Old MacDonald Had an Ocean

Old MacDonald had an ocean,
E-I-E-I-O
And in that ocean he had a shark,
E-I-E-I-O
With a chomp-chomp here,
And a chomp-chomp there,
Here a chomp, there a chomp, everywhere a chomp-chomp.
Old MacDonald had an ocean,
E-I-E-I-O

Had a whale, a fish, a dolphin, etc.

Five Little Fishies Swimming in the Sea

Five little fishies swimming in the sea,
Teasing Mr. Shark, "You can't catch me!"
Along comes Mr. Shark,
Quiet as can be and ...
CHOMP!

Four, three, two, one, none.

The Itsy-Bitsy Spider

The itsy-bitsy spider climbed up the water spout,
Down came the rain and washed the spider out.
Up came the sun and dried up all the rain,
And the itsy-bitsy spider climbed up the spout again.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star (Daddy Bought a Motor Car)

Twinkle Twinkle little star,
Daddy bought a motor car.
Push the button,
Pull the choke.
Off we go in a puff of smoke.
Twinkle Twinkle little star,
Daddy bought a motor car.

For our underwater activity, we went fishing for some sea creatures!

After fishing, we coloured some underwater pictures!

Next up is letter V! We'll be doing some vegetable stamping!
