N is for Nose!

N is for narwhal, needle, nine, net, night, nod, noble, nun-chuck, noisy, nasal, and nose!

We read:

Mr. Wuffles! by David Wiesner

"In a near wordless masterpiece that could only have been devised by David Wiesner, a cat named Mr. Wuffles doesn't care about toy mice or toy goldfish. He's much more interested in playing with a little spaceship full of actual aliens-but the ship wasn't designed for this kind of rough treatment. Between motion sickness and damaged equipment, the aliens are in deep trouble.
When the space visitors dodge the cat and take shelter behind the radiator to repair the damage, they make a host of insect friends. The result? A humorous exploration of cooperation between aliens and insects, and of the universal nature of communication involving symbols, "cave" paintings, and gestures of friendship." - http://www.hmhbooks.com/wiesner/mr-wuffles.html

We sang: Head and Shoulders, Knees and Toes

Head and shoulders, knees and toes,
Knees and toes,
Knees and toes.
Head and shoulders, knees and toes,
Eyes, ears, mouth and nose.

(Go faster, slower, super fast, and super slow!)

We read:

For the Love of a Pug, by Woodleigh Marx Hubbard

"Pugs are funny, affectionate, and endearingly odd, and to love one is to be under its spell. Pug owners are passionate, and have even been known to express their devotion in love songs and poetry-and Woodleigh Marx Hubbard is no exception! She is, in her own words, "besotted" with her pug, Oliver Wink.

Perfect for pug aficionados and dog lovers everywhere, her whimsical tribute to pugs captures their exuberance, as her energetic illustrations celebrate and applaud the many colorful sides of this truly unique little dog." - Putnam Juvenile

We sang: Old MacDonald Had a Farm

Old MacDonald had a farm,
E-I-E-I-O
And on his farm he had a cow!
E-I-E-I-O
With a moo moo here,
And a moo moo there!
Here a moo! There a moo! Everywhere a moo moo!
Old MacDonald had a farm,
E-I-E-I-O!

He also had a horse, and a dog, and a cat, and a duck, and many more fun-loving animals!

We read:

A New House for Mouse, by Petr Horacek

"Mouse is little and so is her house - but her apple is huge. She needs to find a home that is big enough for them both. Peep through the holes and join Mouse in her search for a new home." - Walker Books Ltd.

Now, what did all of these books have in common?

Noses! Every one of these books had a character with a unique nose! So for our crafty letter N, we made our own noses!

We use pipe cleaners, egg cartons, and markers for this aromatic craft!

We'll see you back after the break with some Dr. Seuss crafts!
