Family Literacy Day

Monday was Family Literacy Day! Special Guest Kerry Towle came out to the Library to read a story with the kids:

Kerry read "Let's Count Goats", by Mem Fox, with help from Koltyn to turn pages!

Next we read "There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly", by Simms Taback. Jacob helped me turn pages with this book.

With help from Isabella to turn pages, we read "Dogabet", by Dianna Bonder.

Our craft was a caterpillar!

The kids picked the colours they wanted for their caterpillars, and as many circles as they needed to spell their names. Then they drew on faces, added feet and antennae!

Next we had a prize draw! The Henday Association and Kerry Towle each donated wonderful prizes to this event. And the winner was ...

Jacob! Congratulations!

We continued with the Literacy theme in our Tuesday storytime for 4s and 5s.

We read, "Two Little Monkeys", by Mem Fox.

We sang/rhymed "Ten Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed".

We read, "Wolf!" by Becky Bloom.

And we read, "The Wildlife ABC: a Nature Alphabet", by Jan Thornhill.

Thank you to everyone who attended Family Literacy Day! We hope you had a great time! Thanks again to Kerry Towle for donating her time and a lovely toy prize, as well as the Henday Association for their much appreciated, yearly contribution to our Family Literacy Day events!
