Narwhal
Materials: Body and flipper on
narwhale cut from blue construction paper, white horn cut from white cardstock,
scraps of light blue construction paper, googly eye, glue, markers
Tear scraps into little pieces and
glue onto the body. Glue on flipper, horn and googly eye. Draw on mouth. Colour
if wanted.

Family Literacy Day
Monday was Family Literacy Day! Special Guest Kerry Towle came out to the Library to read a story with the kids:
Kerry read "Let's Count Goats", by Mem Fox, with help from Koltyn to turn pages!
Next we read "There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly", by Simms Taback. Jacob helped me turn pages with this book.
With help from Isabella to turn pages, we read "Dogabet", by Dianna Bonder.
Our craft was a caterpillar!
The kids picked the colours they wanted for their caterpillars, and as many circles as they needed to spell their names. Then they drew on faces, added feet and antennae!
Next we had a prize draw! The Henday Association and Kerry Towle each donated wonderful prizes to this event. And the winner was ...

2014 Renovations
Library renovations begin
January 27.
Our goal is minimal disruption to patron services while renovations are underway.
The renovation will take up to 6 months to complete.
We
will continue to offer regular programming during the renovations.
However, special programs like our Princesses & Popstars Day will be
cancelled. Call the Library if you have any questions regarding these
cancellations.
Please be patient with us.

Materials: Brown paper bag, brown construction paper, white template, scissors, glue.
Cut out template, trace hair, ears, arms, and body onto brown construction paper. Glue down body, hair, ears, and arms to paper bag. Glue eyes, mouth, belly and hands onto construction paper. Colour monkey whatever colours you like! Now you have a wonderful monkey puppet!

Craft- Paper Plate Lion
Materials: paper plate, yellow 5 inch circle cut from
construction paper, 2 yellow construction paper ears, red construction paper
oval shape for mouth, white teeth shapes cut from paper, black construction
paper triangle for nose, scissors, googly eyes, markers, glue
Colour outside ring of paper plate lion colours, cut around
the edge of the paper plate to make the fringe. Glue on the yellow construction
paper circle in the middle, glue on the ears, mouth, teeth, nose and googly
eyes.
