Dinosaurs
Spread your arms, way out wide,
Fly like a Pteranodon, soar and glide.
Bend to the floor, head down low,
Move like Stegosaurus, long ago.
Reach up tall, try to be,
As tall as Apatosaurus eating on a tree. Using your claws, grumble and growl
Just like Tyrannosaurus on the prowl.

5. Fingerplay: No More Room
Ten huge dinosaurs (hold up 10 fingers)Sleeping on the cave floor (pretend to sleep)
Woke up and started to roar (stretch arms)
“There’s no more room, there’s no more room there’s no more room on this floor!” (stomp feet)
Well they tossed and they turned and they pushed galore (pretend to push)Til one poor dinosaur was pushed out the door!
-repeat with 9,8,7…
(last verse)
One huge dinosaur (hold up 1 finger)
Sleeping on the cave floor (pretend to sleep)
Woke up and started to roar (stretch arms)
“I’m lonely, come back, it was better before. It’s more fun, crowded together on the floor!”

All through the swamp.
The Triceratops’ horns go poke poke poke… (etc)
The Stegosaurus tail goes spike, spike, spike… (etc.)
The Apatasaurus mouth goes munch, munch, munch… (etc.)
The Pteranodon’s wings go flap flap flap… (etc.)
Dinosaurs in Cars by Nancy Stewart THERE WERE FIVE DINOSAURS RIDIN’ IN CARS (pretend to be driving)
HAVIN’ A “WHEELY” GOOD TIME
THEY SAID, “STEP ON THE GAS” (step forward with one foot)
WE’LL GO REALLY FAST! (push one hand out in front of body)
AND THEY DID UNTIL ONE HAD A FLAT TIRE
CA-CHUNK, CA-CHUNK, CA-CHUNK, CA-CHUNK (roll hands unevenly as if rolling a flat tire)
WHOOSH——- (sink down to crouch position while making air sound)
AND HE SAID, “GO ON WITHOUT ME!” (cup hands around mouth and shout upward)
REPEAT WITH 4,3,2, AND ONE DINOSAUR
LAST TIME- speak the following in a rhythmic, almost rapping way:
AND HE SAID, “ I KNOW WHAT I’LL DO, I’LL CHANGE THE TIRE”SO HE JACKED UP THE CAR (pretend to work a jack while making whoosh sound)
AND HE TOOK OFF THE FLAT (pretend to lift off heavy tire as you say “UH!”))
AND HE PUT ON THE SPARE (pretend to put on spare as you say, “UH!”)
AND He jacked down the car ( make whoosh sound)
And HE SAID, “I’LL PICK UP MY FRIENDS”THEN THERE WERE FIVE DINOSAURS, RIDIN’ IN CARS (stand back up and repeat original motions)
HAVIN’ A WHEELY GOOD TIME
THEY SAID, “STEP ON THE GAS, WE’LL GO REALLY FAST”
AND THEY DID AND DOWN THE ROAD THEY WENT FLYIN’
SO LONG! (spoken with a wave)
7. Craft: Dinosaur Picture
Construction paper, dinosaur foam shapes, glue, markers
Choose your favourite dinosaurs and glue them to your construction paper, add plants and details to the dinosaurs and their habitats.
