Mom

Moms
Age 2’s and 3’s, 4’s and 5’s
Duration 45 minutes
Music: The Sound of Music

1. Storytime – Welcome Song
Storytime is starting, starting, starting.
Storytime is starting, come and listen to me.

2. Read first story "31 Uses for a Mom", "My Mom is so Unusual" , or "If My Mom Were An Octopus".


3. Poem: Two Mother Pigs
Two mother pigs lived in a pen, (two thumbs up)
Each had four babies and that made ten. (Wiggle four fingers on each hand)
These four babies were black and white. (Wiggle four fingers on one hand)
These four babies were black as night. (Wiggle four fingers on the other hand) All eight babies loved to play. (Wiggle eight fingers)
And the rolled and they rolled in the mud all day. (Roll hands)
At night, with their mother, They curled up in a heap, (Make fists, palms up)
And squealed and squealed 'Til they went to sleep. (Tuck thumbs under fingers)

4. Read second story "My Mom Is Excellent", "I Like Noisy, Mom Likes Quiet", or "Mama Rex & T The Almost Perfect Mother's Day".

5. Fingerplay: Ten Fluffy Chicks
Five eggs and five eggs Hold up five fingers and five fingers.
That makes ten. Wiggle ten fingers.
Sitting on top is the Mother Hen Lock fingers together, knuckles up.
Crackle, crackle, crackle, what do I see? Clap hands.
Ten fluffy chickens as yellow as can be. Hold up ten fingers.

6. Nursery Rhyme: The Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe
There was an old woman who lived in a shoe
She had so many children she didn't know what to do.
She gave them some broth and a big slice of bread
Kissed them all soundly and tucked them in bed.

7. Craft: Puzzle Frame Card
Materials
Cardboard frame and card stock/paper (same size) with message written on it.
puzzle pieces
glue
diecuts
Tape cardstock/paper to frame so it will open like a book with message showing through the opening.
Glue puzzle pieces to the frame. Keep adding more layers until you get the effect you want.
Add embellishments.
