6 Weeks of Colour - Chameleons!

Our Reading Rainbow is all finished! Check it out!

Can you find your hands?

For our 2nd week of colour, we're looking at the most colourful of lizards: chameleons!

Interesting facts about chameleons:

- Chameleons can rotate their eyes in two different directions, and focus on two objects at once.

- Chameleons are not deaf, but they don't actually have ear openings. They use other senses like tough to detect vibrations and sense movement.

- There are 160 different kinds of chameleons!

We read:

The Chameleon and the Dragonfly: a Pop-Up Book, by Lorena Eliasen

Blue Chameleon, by Emily Gravett

The Mixed-Up Chameleon, by Eric Carle

A Color of His Own, by Leo Lionni

Hide and Seek, by Il Sung Na

The Chameleon Colors Book, by Gene Yates

The Artist Who Painted a Blue Horse, by Eric Carle

We sang:

The Color Song: (Tune: If You're Happy and You Know It)

If your clothes have any red, any red.
If your clothes have any red, any red.
If your clothes have any red, put your finger on your head,
If your clothes have any red, any red.

Blue - finger on your shoe
Yellow - smile like a happy fellow
Brown - turn your smile into a frown
Black - put your hands behind your back
White - stomp your feet with all your might
Pink - stop and take a blink

If You're Wearing Red Today: (Tune: Mary Had a Little Lamb)

If you're wearing red today, red today, red today,
If you're wearing red today,
Jump up and shout hooray!

If you're wearing blue today ...
If you're wearing pink today ...
If you're wearing green today ...
If you're wearing yellow today ...
