Letter K –Kittens, kangaroos, koalas, karate, kings and kites
2’s and 3’s, 4’s and 5’s

1.             1. Storytime – Welcome Song
Storytime is starting, starting, starting.
Storytime is starting, come and listen to me.

2.           2. Read first story Curious Kitten Peek A Boo!, Snap!, Three Little Kittens

3.            3. Five little kittens
Five little kittens standing in a row (hold up 5 fingers)
They nod their heads to the children so (bend fingers)
They run to the left, they run to the right (run fingers to the left and then to the right)
They stand up and stretch in the bright sunlight (stretch fingers out tall)
Along comes a dog who's in for some fun (hold up one finger from opposite hand)
MEOW! See those little kittens run (let fingers run).

4.       4.  Read second story McGillycuddy Could!, Snog the Frog, Tiger

5.        5.  Flannel board: Five Knights in Shining Armor
Five knights in shining armor,
Fearless and brave,
Went dragon hunting deep in a cave.
The dragon started breathing fire,
The knights’ knees were all aquiver,
So one little knight took off for the river!
(repeat counting down to zero)
 
6. Action Rhyme: Kangaroo!
Jump, jump, jump (Jump)
Goes the kangaroo (Jump)
I thought only one (Hold up one finger)
But now I see two! (Hold up two fingers)
Momma and her baby
With his head popping out (Make a fist, have other hand pop out)
He holds on tight (Hug yourself)
As they jump all about! (Jump)

7.          8. Song: What about the Kangaroo?
Crazy crabs walk sideways, (move sideways)
What a giddy way to go!
Snails slip slide forwards (move forward slowly)
And that is very slow!
Ducks waddle, waddle, (waddle)
And that is funny too,
And what about the hopping
Of the big red kangaroo? (hop like a kangaroo)

9. Craft- Koala Bear
Materials:  Koala bear shape cut from construction paper, markers, popsicle stick, glue, green paper.
Draw on face of koala bear, colour stick brown and glue on leaves to make a eucalyptus tree, glue on koala bear.
