- Storytime – Welcome Song:
Now you're here lets have some fun.
First we'll clap our hands just so,
Then we'll bend and touch our toes.
Welcome, welcome everyone,
Now you're here lets have some fun.
Storytime:
Storytime is starting, starting, starting.
Storytime is starting, come and listen to me.
Storytime is starting, starting, starting.
Storytime is starting, come and listen to me.
- Read first story “Alphabet Rescue” or "The Very Hungry Caterpillar"
- Rhyme: “Five Little Monkeys”
Teasing Mr. Alligator,
Can’t catch me, you can’t catch me.
Along comes Mr. Alligator quiet as can be and
snapped that monkey right out of the tree.
(Continue with “Four little monkeys…”)
- Read second story “I Saw an Ant on the Railroad Track" or "The Three Hedgehogs"
I like to eat, I like to eat
I like to eat, eat apples and bananas…
Repeat, substituting a, e, i, o, and u sounds for the vowels all through the song.
- Read third story "Snip Snap! What's That"
- Song: “The Ants Go Marching”
Hurrah! Hurrah!
The ants go marching one by one
Hurrah! Hurrah!
The ants go marching one by one
The little one stops to have some fun.
And they all go marching
Down to the ground to get out of the rain
Bum, bum, bum, bum, bum, bum, bum, bum
(Continue to four, using “The little one stops to say ‘no more!’”)
- Craft: Apple Tree
Cut out tree shape using scissors. Colour top half green for the tree top and the trunk brown. Add red sticky dots or stamp red finger prints for the apples
