Summer Reading Program Week 6: Storytellers 7-12

Summer Reading Program
Week 6: Storytellers
Ages: 7-12


Books read:

When I Was Eight by  Christy Jordan-Fenton and Margaret Pokiak-Fenton: A great book about the author's life in residential school. It is a story that needs to be heard!




A Promise Is A Promise by Robert Munsch: We learned an Inuit story that has been passed down through the years. 




Activities:

For our activity today we made up a story using the pictures that we drew on our stones.

Craft:


For our craft this week we made story stones. To make our story stones we drew  on stones with permanent marker. We could draw anything we wanted and they were used in our activity after we were done.

Books read:

Help! We Need A Title! By Herve Tullet: This book is pretty funny. The kids liked the different characters in this book and the way they made up a story! 

Harold and the Purple Crayon by Crockett Johnson: We learned how we can make up our own worlds/stories with our imaginations in this book!


Activities:

For our activity today we used our craft that we made to tell stories! We came up with some really great stories!

Craft:


For our craft this week we made popsicle stick puppets. To make our puppets we used foam stickers and put them on the end of our popsicle stick.

Livres:

Le premier livre qu'on a lu aujourd'hui est Mon école est un zoo! par Stu Smith. Cette livre est tres drole. Les enfants aime cette livre beaucoup.




Jeux:

Pour notre jeu ont a jouer un jeu de TAG dehors mais avec les lions et des antilope.

Bricolages:

Pour notre bricolage ont à créer des peinture d'animaux comme ca:

Livres:

Le premier livre qu'on a lu aujourd'hui est S'il vous plait, Mr.Panda. Il ya a beaucoup d'animaux différent dans cette histoire.



Jeux:

Pour notre jeu ont a jouer un jeu de "Téléphone" mais ont doigt dit des chose avec un thème d'animaux. 

Bricolages:

Pour notre bricolage ont à créer les éléphants avec un assiette au papier, et des dabber bingo.

Semaine 4: 9+ Les Insectes

Les Insectes 

Livres:

Le premier livre qu'on a lu aujourd'hui est Stella fée des forêts. Ils ont beaucoup d'insects qu'on doit identifier dans cette livre.



Le deuxième livre qu'on a  lu c'est Ma Vie De Verre De Terre par Doreen Cronin. Cette livre est tres drole les enfants en aimer cette livre beaucoup. 



Jeux:

Pour notre jeu ont a jouer au TAG a araignee. Dans cette jeu il y a deux personnes qui sont les araignée tout les autres sont des mouches. 

Bricolages:

Pour notre bricolage ont à créer notre propre insectes avec le papier de brouillon. Les insectes qu'on a creer ete tres unique!

Books read:

Animalia by Graeme Base: Animalia has beautiful illustrations! It was fun to try and spot out different animals on each page.



The second book we read was The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate. We only read the first chapter of this book but it a very cute book with a neat writing style.



Activities:

For our activity today we went outside and tried to guess animal sounds. 

Craft:

For our craft this made a climbing critter. I got the idea from this blog, it was a hit and the kids got to show off their creativity with this craft.

Books read:

Lion Lessons by Jon Agee: This was a fun book about a boy who wants to become a lion. It was a good read aloud as we could do a lot of the actions that went along with the book while reading the story. 


Sealed With A Kiss by Beth Ferry: This was a book about a seal who moves into to a new zoo who just wants some friends. The kids found this book quite funny and enjoyed the different characters in this book. 





Activities:

For our activity today we went outside and used the lion lessons that we learned from the book we read. After completing our lion lessons we went on a lion hunt. To go on our lion hunt we sang the bear hunt song. 

Craft:

For our craft this week we made a lion's mane! To make our lion's mane I printed out a blank lion's face template. We drew a face on our lion and then we used plastic forks to paint our manes with yellow and orange paint.
