6 Weeks of Silly - Monsters!
Our second week of silly was full of thrills of spooks! We learned all about monsters!
Fun facts about "monsters":
- In 1991, a man named Chito rescued a dying crocodile, nursed it back to health, and then tried to release it back into the "wild", but it kept coming back. Chito became best friends with the crocodile, (named it Pocho), and for the next 20 years, would get in the water to swim, kiss, hug, and play with the 5-meter long, half a ton crocodile.
- Before he had his first cookie, Cookie Monster's name was Sid. After he started eating lots of cookies, the name "Cookie Monster" stuck, and all the other monsters forgot his real name.
We read:
Fingers for Lunch, by Brandt Lewis
If You're Spooky and You Know It, by Aly Fronis
The Monster at the End of This Book (starring Lovable, Furry Old Grover), by Jon Stone
Love Monster, by Rachel Bright
Five Ugly Monsters, by Tedd Arnold
Quit Calling Me a Monster! by Jory John
When a Monster is Born, by Sean Taylor
Some Monsters Are Different, by David Milgrim
Hush Little Monster, by Denis Markell
I Will Chomp You! by Jory John
There's No Such Thing as Monsters! by Steve Smallman
The Big Monster Snorey Book, by Leigh Hodgkinson
We sang:
Five Little Monsters Jumping on the Bed
Five little monsters jumping on the bed,
One fell off and bumped his head.
Mama called the doctor and the doctor said,
"No more monsters jumping on the bed!"
Four little monsters jumping on the bed,
One fell off and bumped his head.
Mama called the doctor and the doctor said,
"No more monsters jumping on the bed!"
Three little monsters jumping on the bed,
One fell off and bumped his head.
Mama called the doctor and the doctor said,
"No more monsters jumping on the bed!"
Two little monsters jumping on the bed,
One fell off and bumped his head.
Mama called the doctor and the doctor said,
"No more monsters jumping on the bed!"
One little monster jumping on the bed,
He fell off and bumped his head.
Mama called the doctor and the doctor said,
"Put those monsters straight to bed!"
You Are My Monster
You are my monster,
My only monster.
You make me happy,
When I am sad.
You never know dear,
How much I love you.
Please don't take my monster away.
Then we made our craft:
For snack, we had some delicious strawberries! Next up: grouchy!
