B is for Beach

B is for baby, bear, bug, blue, berries, banana, ball, and beach!

B is for Beach,
With warm, soft sand.
Squishing in your toes,
Sifting through your hands.

We had sandy crafts this week!

We searched through big bins for things that begin with the letter B:


  

Then we made sandcastles:

We sang:

Our craft was moon sand

Recipe: 

1 bowl
Flour
Baby Oil

Add 8 cups of flour to bowl
Add 1 cup of baby oil to bowl
Using hands (or spoon) mix together until there is no liquid left. Flour should have the consistency of soft sand. Will hold a shape, but also crumble well.

Along comes Mr. Crocodile, Silent as can be. And …Snap!

And no more monkeys. And away swims Mr. Crocodile, As full as he can be!
 


Fingerplay: Alley Cats

One orange alley cat wondering what to do
Along came another cat, And now there are two
Two little alley cats scamper up a tree
Along came another cat, And now there are three
Three little alley cats, Running through the door
Look here comes another cat! And now there are four
Four little alley cats, Playing in our drive
Out pounces another cat, And now there are five
Five little alley cats, Hear a scary sound
Oh no it’s a dog! Run, cats, run so we can’t be found!

Crafts: Pete the Cat Puppet
Materials: paper bags, blue construction paper cut out of head, yellow construction paper rectangles, yellow construction paper ovals, white construction paper triangles, circle stickers, sparkly pompoms, glue, markers

Glue head on paper bag flap. Glue 2 yellow construction paper rectangles on paper bag, leave inside edges unglued so this shirt will open. Glue yellow ovals on head for eyes. Glue white triangle for the nose. Stick stickers to one side of yellow rectangle to make buttons. Glue sparkly pompom for belly button on under the shirt. Draw on pupils and whiskers with markers.

Bananas of the world- Unite (stand with arms at sides, then raise over head)
Bananas split (Lower arms)
Pick bananas, pick, pick bananas (reach up and pick bananas from a tree)
Peel bananas, peel, peel bananas (peel a banana in your hand)
Smash bananas, smash, smash bananas (clap hands)
Eat bananas, eat, eat bananas (stuff banana in mouth and sing with mouth full)
Go bananas, go, go bananas! (Do a crazy dance)

Crafts: Blue-Footed Booby Puppet
Materials: Paper cups, blue construction paper feet and beak, brown construction paper wings, googly eyes, glue, tape, markers, yarn and toothpicks.

Poke hole in  the top of the cup. Glue on feet, beak and wings. You may need to reinforce with tape. Glue on googly eyes. Decorate with markers. Pull the yarn through the cup and tie toothpick to one end. Pull back up, the toothpick will stop the yarn from pulling out of the puppet.
