3. Song: Do Your Ears Hang Low?
Do your ears hang low? Both arms hang down toward floor
Do they wobble to and fro? Swing arms back and forth
Can you tie them in a knot? Stand straight;pretend to tie
Can you tie them in a bow? First one arm, then the other swings around to sketch the shape of an exaggerated bow
Can you throw them o'er your shoulder throwing ends of a scarf
Like a Continental Soldier? March in place
Do your ears hang low?

5. Read second story Dog's Noisy Day , Dogs, Dogs, Dogs or Yip! Snap! Yap!

6. Fingerplay: Five Little Puppies
Five little puppies were playing in the sun. hold up hands ,fingers extended
This one saw a rabbit, and he began to run. bend down first finger
This one saw a butterfly, and he began to race. bend down second finger
This one saw a cat, and he began to chase. bend down third finger
This one tried to catch his tail, and he went round and round. bend down fourth finger
This one was so quiet, he never made a sound. bend down thumb

7. Craft: Square Puppy
Use square of paper. Fold over two ears. Draw on face. Glue on googly eyes and tongues.

5. Fingerplay: Five Red Leaves
Five red leaves, five and no more, hold up 5 fingers
The caterpillar ate one, now there are four. thumb down
Four red leaves, that's easy to see.
Along came a rainstorm, now there are three. index down
Three red leaves, nothing much to do,
A big wind blew, now two! middle down
Two red leaves, that's not much fun,
I glued one on my paper ring down
Now there is one. hold up pinky
Hang on, pretty red leaf!
Your branches won't break,
You're one less leaf for me to rake!

6. Craft: Leaf Magnet
Clothespins, magnets, silk leaf, glue, markers, clip art of leaves.

Use the markers to colour the leaf picture fall colours.
Glue leaf to top of clothespin.
Glue magnet to back of clothespin.

One-eyed Jack

One-eyed Jack, the pirate chief, (Put 1 hand over 1 eye)
Was a terrible, fearsome ocean thief. (Move hands like ocean waves)
He wore a peg upon one leg. (Point or touch one leg)
He wore a hook & a dirty look. (Curl one hand & look mean)
One-eyed Jack, the pirate chief, (Repeat motions above)
Was a terrible, fearsome ocean thief.

Fall Programs start the week of September 15th.
Storytime for 2's and 3's, Fun for 4's and 5's and a new afterschool program running Wednesday afternoons called GASP (Great After School Program).

Mystery Solved!

Another eventful summer at the Library was celebrated with the AGENT 009 Summer Reading Club 2009. With over 150 enthusiastic children and adults participating, the Summer Reading Club was a HUGE success at encouraging reading and literacy! The library staff was pleased to see so many people reading and entering the weekly prize draws. It became a whole family affair with all ages reading and entering together.

The Library would like to thank all of those who aprticipated in the program and hope to see you all again next year!!!!!!! A huge thank-you also extends to the local businesses that helped to support the literacy program by providing donations of prize items, food, and money. Many thanks to: McDonalds, No Frills, Panago Pizza, Silver Lake Cinema, Time Horton's, Subway and Cobbs Foods. Your support is extremely appreciated.

* AGENT 009 - LAST MYSTERY WEEK *

The SUMMER READING PROGRAM is now wrapping up its fifth week which means there is still one week left to register! Come join us at the Sylvan Lake Spy Training Facility for the final session, The Scene of the Crime, from August 11th to August 14th!

All you have to do is read to be eligible for our weekly prizes! Our weekly prize winners have enjoyed AGENT 009 material such as book-bags, t-shirts, spy tools, games, books, pizza awards courtesy of Panago Pizza, food coupons courtesy of Subway and movie passes courtesy of Silver Lake Cinema.
